ABOUT

Kadie Otto teaches in the M.S. and B.S.B.A. Sport Management degree programs (Critical Issues in Sport, Sport Ethics, Global Sport & Culture, and Risk Management & Liability in Sport). She earned her Ph.D. from Florida State University.

 

Hailing from New Hampshire, the Live Free or Die state, Dr. Otto's research centers on issues of ethical, legal, and social justice in sport.  Fittingly, she has: served as an expert consultant for plaintiff's attorneys in Bannon v. NCAA; offered insight to the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division regarding NCAA scholarship restrictions; met with Ralph Nader regarding college sports reform; submitted White Papers, Open Letters, and Amicus Curiae to the U.S. Congress, the President, and the NLRB, respectively; and, entertained over 100 interviews with national media outlets such as American Public Media, Bloomberg, CNN, ESPN, and USA Today.

 

An invited speaker, Dr. Otto has engaged with audiences at UC-Berkeley, The College Sport Research Institute at UNC-CH and the University of South Carolina, Loras College, The Big South Conference, and the UNC-Asheville Athletics. She is available for speaking engagements, training seminars, and consulting in the areas of ethical awareness, social responsibility, and risk evaluation.
